Hi Folks,

I'm a little sad tonight - I hope someone has some insight. I wanted to
try out the Power Switch II plugin since I'd like to use it to switch my
amps on/off. I haven't built the relay board yet, but I installed the
plugin and wanted to make sure it was working (ie, outputting 3.x volts
when on and 0 when off). I cut the end off an 1/8" stereo extension
cable, stripped the insulation back on the tip and sleeve leads, and
plugged it into the headphone out on one of my squeezeboxen. I measured
the voltage from tip to sleeve: 0 when off, 0 when on. Uh oh... What's
worse was that after disabling the plugin and restarting SqueezeCenter,
the headphone out is now dead on that squeezebox. :-(

Thinking that ~maybe~ this headphone out was dead to begin with, I made
like an idiot and tried this on another squeezebox (which I first
verified a healthy headphone). Now I have two toasted SB3 headphone
outs.

I only have 4 squeezeboxen, and I've already killed 2 of them, so I
can't afford to do any more "research". Maybe someone here has an idea.
Here's everything I know:

-I'm using SqueezeCenter 7.0 - 15412 (12/18/2007 build)
-I'm using the Power Switch II 0.2 Plugin
-The squeezeboxen are SB3, firmware 84 (this is a new fw)
-I did not short anything (you'll have to trust me on this)

Could there be some issue with the new version 84 firmware? Seems like
a long shot. Anyone have any theories?

As always, insight is much appreciated. Thanks,

John
