Try running netstumbler on your notebook. It will tell you whether there are other networks that uses the same channel as your or one too close.
There should be at least 3 free channell in between. If tip doesn't help than you are one of the many hit by squeezebox's connectivity problems. Go to the Bugzilla bug database and search for my alias. You'll find a bug describing this problem and the work done so far on it.
