Yes, I find the SB3 a touch flat and uninvolving, especially when
compared to thr Transporter. However I think I remember Patrick Dixon
who sells a hacked/modded SB3 as a SB++ (www.at-tunes.co.uk) saying
that one of the the mods they did was to increase the level of the
input signal to the SB3 DAC (I may have got this entirely wrong but it
was something very simple like this). He expressed surprise that the
SB3's level was so low. I wonder whether Logitec might take some leads
from the simple mods At-Tunes have done with the SB3 to produce a
better sounding and not hugely expensive SB4. Everyone I know who has
heard the SB++ says that it sounds great.
