Are you 100% positive that it is SqueezeCenter that is causing the
drive to spin up. I would shut SqueezeCenter down by (ensure that it is
not running by checking task manager) and then let it sit for few hours
and see if the drive spins up. If it does then it is not SqueezeCenter
that is causing it.

I know on my system (windows xp pro sp2) with out SqueezeCenter the
drive spin up for what seems to be no reason, come to find out it is
windows that is refreshing its connection list that causes this.
