I've used a http://www.embeddedarm.com/ SBC for my day job, and thought along these lines. you can get a nice, packaged linux box running on an ARM processor. http://www.embeddedarm.com/epc/wifi-h.htm has the wifi, cpu, flash, USB connector I have run Java and C on it, I would expect Perl to run as well. It has a built in copy of Apache.
