The Squeezebox Receiver cannot be set up without a Squeezebox Controller, however Robin Bowes is working on a plug-in that would allow an SBR to be configured from a PC. Once an SBR is configured, it is controlled by SqueezeCenter (or SqueezeNetwork), so any product that can control SC or SN can control the SBR. Asuuming Robin's plug-in can change the music source for the SBR to SN, you would have to be sure to switch the music source BEFORE shutting down SC.
