If you have Settings->Advanced->Software Updates = Automatically Check for Software Updates, then SqueezeCenter will download the latest jive update binary at least every time the server restarts, and likely daily. If you have that setting set to "Don't Check.." ..then you shouldn't be prompted to do the updates. I wouldn't think that running the battery flat would prompt an update either.
