I agree with greg and will add the following comments. The most users of computer stored and served music are iPod owners. iTunes allows the entry of Album Artist when ripping and in the iTunes GUI it can be used as a sort item. When an iTunes user fires up SC GUI he/she quickly discovers that the Album Artist column is not available (there have been numerous posts about this), I have only seen one contributor to this thread mentioning the iTunes use of this tag. Many contributors to this forum decry iTunes for a lot of valid and some not so valid reasons, but iTunes users are where Logitech's mass market is.
