Question: Would you buy a Slim Devices/Logitech branded amp?

- YES!
- NO!
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd vote no for a separate amp. However...

A Squeezebox with a reasonably powerful (40-60W RMS) built-in amplifier
would be a goer. Especially if one was made in a form factor that would
fit on a dual-gang electrical outlet plate with all the connections
(power, wired LAN and speakers) concealed at the rear. Would obviously
need a deep back-box but one of these could mount on the wall in my
kitchen and have the speakers powered directly from it.

A "boom-box" type device (wireless, internal amp and speakers, possibly
with an internal rechargable battery) would also be a goer.

Other things I'd like to see - and I'm sure there's a demand for it:

A 17" hi-fi sized Squeezebox with a display and front panel controls.
Doesn't need the dual displays or the fancy knob and DAC of the
Transporter, just standard SB3 functionality with buttons on the front
to control it if you can't find the remote.

Someone mentioned a Squeezebox chip (probably implemented by
incorporating a SlimServer/SqueezeCentre client into the controller of
an AV receiver) to be used into other hi-fi components. This would be a
work of genius as this would provide network audio functionality to
"proper" hi-fi and AV. Currently I'm using a Turtle Beach Audiotron to
stream audio to my hi-fi downstairs (Arcam AVR-250 and upstairs (Yamaha
DSP-AX620) through the digital out. I'd rather use a Squeezebox but
can't get one in a form factor that won't look a bit out of place in
the kit rack.

I suppose a SB2 could sit on top of the Sky+ box under the telly with a
long Toslink at a push but the SB3 would look out of place there.
(Trying to track down a second hand wired-only SB2 if anyone in the UK
has one for sale?)
