If you simply unplug the SB3, your settings will survive.  You can
unplug, crack it open and remove the wireless card that way.  If that
works, you'll see the Logitech logo when you power up and you will have
time to enter the network settings before it tries to use the existing
setup.  

Just out of curiosity, you did mention trying the brightness button on
the remote, but did you check the brightness setting in the web UI in
case that says 0, or are you able to get other reactions from the
player using the remote?  It's always possible that the batteries have
gone, thus no reaction to the brightness button.
