I agree, Pat.

A NAS adds another level of <possible> trouble, especially when you try
to cut corners and run SC on the NAS. While there are NAS boxes that
seem to be able to do NAS and SC, most (like mine) are pathetic when it
comes to doing the SC part.

It seems that those that combine the boxes are so enthusiastic about
how easy it is are the technically savvy people who don't realize what
most people don't know..

As an example, I use a NAS but I have to know that when SC tries to
contact it, the SC box has to provide the user/password. If this
doesn't happen, SC will rebuild (if it' set to do it) and the result
will be an empty library..

Get things going and then take on the more complex issues. Mostly, get
things going and make sure you have a working backup solution....
