Have you tried installing and running SqueezeCenter on a typical, modern day PC instead of the ReadyNAS? I think you might be surprised at the performance difference. As for _building_ very large playlists, SqueezeCenter just isn't a very good tool for doing this and there's not a lot you can do about it while using a web interface.
