I hate to be off topic again... but I can't keep myself from responding. This is the big myth... Although we pay less taxes out of our pay checks we end up paying a lot more for Education and Health Care than the folks in Holland. It costs upwards of 20K a year if you want to send your kid to a decent collegue. How much do you pay in Holland? My wife and I pay about $1,500 a month for health care coverage. How much do you pay in Holland? In the US most folks think that these costs are not taxes... they believe that keeping the money gives them choice. But in the end with entities like HMOs and pharmaceutical companies that have not incentive other than making a profit we end up paying an inflated cost for health care and medicines. I know, I know... people in Europe would be outraged if they had a middle man between their doctors and their care... but here in the US is a different story. Some folks think that Universal Health Care is a bad thing because they believe that the goverment will mismanage it. But they don't think in the same way about Social Security. Well, let me stop... I guess my economic situtation won't get me Controller at 40% off.
