Dave,

You said that "Browse Music Folder" is the only way you can navigate
your collection - I took that to mean that your files didn't have any
tags in them, since if they did there are various ways (search
artist/album/song, browse artist/album/song etc) you could navigate
without using the "Browse Music Folder" option. The unique thing about
the "Browse Music Folder" options is that it doesn't use tags or the
database scan at all - it just reads your directory & file name
structures.

So I'm a bit unclear on what you mean. ANyway,I'm presuming the scan
completed and you can now see all of your collection (using one of the
above methods)?

AFAIK your setup sounds OK (shortcuts etc), provided that the external
drive is accessible during the scan - sometime external drives become
unavailable (especially USB ones) before a scan starts and then a scan
loses everything on that disk from the database.

What OS are you using, what SC release and what file types (Flac?
mp3?)

The appearance or non-appearance of the "Browse Music Folder" option is
totally determined by having a valid path set in the relevant SC
settings page - so in your case this should point to the folder where
your two drive shortcuts are...and I assume this is on your INTERNAL
drive?

Also, you want MusicIP and iTunes integration turned off to avoid a
lengthy, pointless and potentially "damaging" double scan situation...
