It's likely that you have plugins that were released with a maxVersion check, preventing them from running in 7.1.
Plugin authors set the version that they knew the plugin would work with, guessing on the side of caution that future versions of SC would be incompatible. You'll need to download new versions written for 7.1, if they exist. Plugins that worked for 7.0.1 will generally run fine though, so you can edit the install.xml file in each plugin folder to change the maxVersion property.
