silverarrows and seedoubleyou,

I have no issues with initial scanning in Windows (XP, service pack 3
installed). I have not tried adding something to the library and then
scanning for "new and updated music".

You should contact support, or if you're sure there's a bug, open a bug
report.

On my last contact with support, they suggested a few things to try:
1. Do a clean install (as per the FAQ - look for the instructions
specific to your flavour of Windows).
2. Try scanning a folder that has only one or two albums in it. Does
this work? If so, then there may be an issue with scanning large
quantities of files (seems to be my problem). If not, then bug report
or support time.
3. If scanning did work, try to find out if there are certain files
that pose problem - split your library in half (A-M, N-Z) and scan each
part separately. If scanning works for one half, but not the other,
split the problematic half again and try again - until you find the
problematic letter/artist/album/songs. Then bug report or support
time.

You can see the last set of steps I performed by checking out bug
report 9040 - http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=9040

Whilst waiting for a fix, I'm using my backup (slow but works) linux
server (SC 7.1), and will probably revert my mac server back to 7.0
(this version works fine for me) for better performance.

HTH

p.s. this the first real issue I've ever had with Slim Server /
SqueezeCenter; I've had my squeezebox for over a year now.
p.p.s I remember reading issues on Windows with some anti-virus
software - you'll have to check the forums for more info.
