It looks, and sounds, great! I think you may want to throw a bone to people who are *not* familiar with the politics in software, particularly those who may know or understand the beef that the FSF has historically had with the OSI. I would suggest adding a some words before, "Having become sensitized to the "free" vs "open" debate," in which you spell out that certain individuals associated the OSI with the "Open Source" movement. That may sound obvious, but trust me, it isn't (even to me). Currently, one has to closely read between the lines to understand the purpose of your apologetics. I honestly don't know the issues well enough to even suggest what to write there. But for starters, you could move the bit "The OSI was indeed founded with an explicit mission...." up a lot higher. Further notes: 1. "so strictly that they "free software"" --> "so strictly that they use "free software"" (missing word) 2. "without substantial without explanation" (extra word)
