I don't think this affects that possibility, really. Right now, people can donate tax-deductible money to the OSI earmarked for us, and they will "support us" with that money as part of their own mission. (I'm not sure if that's an informal understanding or a formal arrangement.) To somehow make patron contributions automatically be donations to the OSI, which then turn around and get sent to the projects according to our mechanism, is probably not something under consideration.
