I've used Wing 101 in the classroom and liked it, but it does have one
major limitation in that the free version lacks auto-complete. This can be
a barrier to getting students to use good variable names.

I'm using Enthought Canopy's editor in my introductory university course
this semester (which has auto-complete for free). It doesn't have all of
the bells and whistles, but for novices that can actually be a good thing
because they aren't there to get in the way.
