I think we're at the bottom of this particular rabbit hole, but I'll do that next time. I think it's useful to occasionally pull this sort of thing out in front of a wider audience, to demonstrate the value of useful commit messages and continuity in version control history. The problem of discontinuity and copy/paste commits is certainly a much bigger issue with SWC than just the badge history. And we have ongoing work at improving how we teach commit message composition [1,2,3]. Anyhow, if I'd realized that I was actually going to find the SVG source for the badges, I would have started with an issue ;).
