If by spreadsheet-like you mean only data, you can use CSV. CSV isn't great by directly hand edition but you can use Excel or LibreOffice to edit individual cells and there are many tools to convert it to your document (Markdown, LaTeX, DOCX, ODT, ...). If by spreadsheet-like you mean results from calculations, I don't know. Cheers, Raniere
