I’ve seen this pattern in classes in which I’ve been instructing. Have you found any effective counters to it? I’ve found it to be pretty disruptive, particularly among people who aren’t confident in their abilities. I always try to say something like: “Thanks for the question. The answer is pretty involved and outside the scope of this class.
