NumFOCUS is organizing a one-day 'Intro to Data Science' workshop for women in San Francisco on Saturday, Sept 30th, and they are looking for instructors. The workshop can be in R or Python.
There is travel funding available. If you are interested in teaching this workshop, *please get in touch with Gina Helfrich <[email protected] <[email protected]>> directly*. An idea from NumFOCUS about what could be taught is something like: *An Introduction to Data Science* Learn about the data science process and get hands on practice with an introduction to data analysis and visualization in R (or Python). Content could include a short intro lecture of 'what is the data science process' and then there could be the Data Carpentry data organization lesson <http://www.datacarpentry.org/spreadsheet-ecology-lesson/> followed by the R lesson <http://www.datacarpentry.org/R-ecology-lesson/> or Python lesson <http://www.datacarpentry.org/python-ecology-lesson/>, but the exact content will be determined by the instructors. Best, -Tracy
