Thanks, yeah, that's my other plan. just find some chassis with a bunch of disk slots and run zfs on them. 32Gib ram is so cheap these days, and disk is so cheap I was thinking about just building 2 units, each with, say, 32GiB ram and 20 disks. zraid them all, then export a lun from each to the client and software mirror them, to assure cache consistency.
