Scott, I'll answer a few but leave the rest for others more versed at such things.
Copying DVDs. Roxio Toast is available for the Mac and will copy DVDs but I'm not sure as to its accessibility. Disk Utility will copy data DVDs but will not handle movies and such. Scheduled Jobs. In you Energy Saver Preferences, you can tell the System to never go to sleep but allow the display to do so. I have my unit set this way and there are scheduled backups to my iDisk that happen through the night without a hitch. As to whether they would work if the system did go to sleep, I'm not sure. HTH.
