Another thing you can do is set a key to read selected text; if I
recall correctly it's not part of vo per se but the option is found
in system preferences in speech in the text to speech tab. Just don't
set a key or combination of keys you need for something else. If this
is set, instead of jumping to the text with vokeys-j you just hit
your selected text key from within the messages table and it reads
the whole message. The only thing you may not like about this is that
it reads the headers and not just the body.
