I realize my content changed. The second message was an attempt to clarify what was written first. When I said the voices were part of voiceover, for some reason, a 3rd party voice producer was thrown in the mix. I have no idea why, since I had said nothing about thhis 3rd party in my message. I'm puzzled why this is, but there it is. I never claimed the apple voices had been changed, I was merely pointing out that voice over has more parts to it than just the voice over utility we can see in the applications folder. I would expect people to draw comparable conclusions as to just how many parts there might be in voiceover, and realize that there are pieces we cannot and likely will never see or know about. I cannot give an exhaustive list, since I am not part of apple (not for lack of trying) and even if I could, a lot of it I'm sure would make absolutely no sense to those on the list who are not programmers. I apologize for any confusion, I was merely trying to plant the idea that vo has many parts, and we are not likely to see any and all changes that are made to voiceover if the changes are in one of the pieces that don't directly impact our vo experience.

Just one thing here. You have suttly changed the original content of what you said. In your original post, you said:

Don't forget, vo isn't just the application, it's also the speech server, the universal access utility, the various voices, and so on.

In this post, you said:

voiceover isn't just the vo utility used to set yoour configuration items. It's the speech server, the *apple* voices, and even changes in the os and/or

And so on. Now, much of what you said I agree with completely. Particularly your points regarding squashing bugs, and your comments on JFW. I for one don't, and won't ever use that application on my Windows boxes. But that's not really important. As far as I am aware, and I will happily stand corrected if my information is incorrect, the Apple voices haven't been changed in many years. I am not, of course, in a position to know whether internal modules relating to VO have been changed. And the only differences I see between what I had until yesterday and what I have now are negative ones I am afraid. However like others I see no documentation anywhere indicating that VO has changed at the high level. One would have expected that if it had.

Hmm, if you could kindly point out where I said anything about 3rd
party voices being upgraded being considered as part of voiceover, I'd sure like to see it. What I said was that
