Hi,
Interesting. I might be wrong. I think that at one point, Apple was
looking for a full-time employee for this job, and not an intern. I
hope someone applies. If in fact at one time they were looking for a
full-time employee and they are now looking for an intern, if no one
applies, will they just drop the whole idea? Just a concerned VO user.

Apple's VoiceOver Engineering Team is looking for an intern who can
contribute to the design and development of VoiceOver (Apple's
screen reader
software for the visually impaired), and the general accessibility
of Mac OS
X. Responsibilities include:
- Assessing the accessibility of various applications
- Helping to add accessibility to applications (potentially using
Cocoa and
Carbon Accessibility API's)
- Creating accessibility sample code
- Fixing bugs in VoiceOver
- Conducting formal and informal assessments of end user needs
- Contributing to usability design
Required Experience:
- Working towards BS/MS EE/CS/CE or equivalent
- Experience developing software in C, Objective-C, or C++.
- Experience with scripting
- Self-motivated and pro-active with demonstrated creative and
critical
thinking capabilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Additional Desired Experience:
- Experience developing software using Cocoa and/or Carbon
frameworks on
MacOS X.
- Experience with AppleScript
- Familiarity with UNIX & Mac OS X
- Familiarity with accessibility, screen reader software, and Braille
