I have heard a similar rumor. > I have some questions about that. > 1. Is that 10.5 as in OSX 10.4.5, or is it 10.5.0? That would be OS X 10.5, not 10.4.5 (which is, no doubt, also in the works). > 2. it seems like those decimal upgrades come frequently. > How much do they cost, and where would one read up on > upcoming upgrades? The x.y.z upgrades are frequent and free. 10.1 was free for people who purchased 10.0. 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4 have all been about $100 as will be the case with 10.5. Apple does offer buy-ahead-of-time multiple user license maintenance plans, but not much in the way of upgrades per se. The major paid releases have come out between 12 and 18 months. Unless you are an ADC member, the rumor sites are about the best source of news, and they have poor reliability. > 3. When is 10.5 supposed to come out? No idea. Steve talked about the OS X release cycle slowing down when Tiger came out. I would guess, based on no facts, that it won't be before the Fall, and probably not until next January or May. Apple will be rolling out Intel based Mini, iBook, and Desktop all this year. A new OS X would be lost among all that.
