Hi Jane,
I have to agree completely with you.
The few times I called support, they really worked with me.
While I've not been particularly impressed with the local apple store in terms of there knowledge, they did help. They allowed me to have access to a Mac mini for a rather long time prior to my purchasing my Mac and I know it had a lot to do with my deciding to go over to Macs.

Wow! Seems like I have been on the phone with Apple's Tech Support people quite a lot these past few days. OK, really it was only three times, but still/

I cannot compliment them enough on their professionalism, patience, and willingness to listen to all kinds of answers, concerns, questions, etc.

\This past Thursday, I called them because I was concerned about some issues while starting up the comptuer. The guy talked me through how to do a disk repair er ... anyhow, to do a disk repair form the Tiger disk. He had never worked witha caller who relied exclusively on VoiceOver before, but he was able to understand the computer and talk me through what I needed to do. I made sure to hold the phone right up near the computer, and he was able to tell me what I needed to find. My biggest problem was when he would tell me to look for something on the screen. Once he realized I can't see at all, he was quick to adapt. "OK, instead of waiting for the screen to go black, just wait for the chime and do X."

then I called yesterday and spoke to a woman and she was great too.

But tonight, I think was one of the best calls. It had to be one of the shorter ones. I called up because I still had some troubles, and a few new issues came up. Ray, the new person I talked to, was veyr professional; unlike the other guy, aparently he had heard VoiceOver and was used to it, even when I kept it at my normal speed and changed the default voice on it to my own favorite one. Even better, this guy had actually *listned* to computers and the sounds they tend to make, so he was able to tell me that a lot of the sounds I am hearing are normal. He also sent me a very useful article on how to remove items form the trash.

From my very first dealing with the Apple Store when I had to get my keyboard replaced to my Tech Support calls of today,, they have been wonderful, professional, helpful, interesting and engaged people. They really seem to want things to work out right, and they care about me as a customer, or so it seems They have got to be some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of working with in the comptuer industry. (Not putting down other Tech Support people but theese just really stick out for me at Apple.)

Jane
