Yes indeed, voltage being requested from the port on the box. The hub
is powered itself by current from a transformer, but without the
transformer the hub would only utilize I believe the tech said 3 of
the 7 ports. My wife's 4-port hub also uses a transformer, but I
believe in addition to the extra ports on my hub it also helps with
those devices taht need power supplied. I don't think I'm explaining
this correctly, but hope that answers your question.
