Thanks, I'll break open the docs and read them again and install it.
I grabbed both the stable and beta versions not sure which would
offer more features I'm looking for, but at least I can try them
both. I should say the beta did sound impressive othern than all the
extra stuff that needs to be installed. Well will be fun.

Yes, audacity is reasonably accessible--imho, the most annoying
parts is actually in the file chooser dialogs, they're the old
style. However, the editing functions are quite useable. Just make
sure you read the keyboard shortcuts list and, on OS X, when it
says control in the list it means command. And you'll want a gig of
ram at least in order to edit audio, 512mb will work but will be
extremely slow when applying effects.
