No, I totally hear you...it seems a very reasonable question to me. I obviously know nothing about the BRLTTY effort (except what I've read in the documentation). My point was, if a required API is missing or not published by Apple that's a pretty serious obstacle to get around - it might be, as I suggested, "the whole ball game". As you remind us, Dave Mielke would have to be the guy to answer those kind of questions - and decide if an OS X port is even a possibility in the near term (you mentioned he's still waiting to hear back from Apple). Your suggestion for interested developers to contact him directly seems like the best bet. If a near term port is a possibility I'd be pretty surprised if some of the volunteer developers on the list - like Travis and Greg - wouldn't refuse requests for collaboration, information exchange, etc. Know what I mean? I know you've made *me* curious.

You are asking what's stopping collaboration? That's what I've been asking of people on this list. It['s that those on this list who want to work on braille are apparently either not wanting to collaborate, or they think the port isn't a reasonable possibility, or have been refused in their contact efforts; since my questions haven't been answered, I don't know.--
