I worked for, what was at that time the largest 3rd party developer
for the Mac, in tech support. One day the gal who did clerical work
for our team commented to me. "we must have really bad products,
everyone who calls has a problem." I had to laugh, it was tech
support, not many called just to chat and say how wonderful things were.
The Mac community has always been known for outspoken individuals. We
generally yell if something is done wrong, and equally as loud when
it's fantastic. Because of that the Mac has continued to evolve from
a great platform to even a better one.
For some reason there appears to be apologists here who would rather
wait and wait and hope that someone can figure out they are having
problems and fix them without feedback. About a year ago there was a
discussion on support. And what should be expected. Many expressed
the opinion that we should not expect anything, that we have to
understand they might not know. I submit that is wrong, we need to
expect quality. We need to see improvements. This is now one year
after the release of VO. (close enough) We should have seen some
progress.
Nobody here sees a problem that iTunes isn't fully compatible yet?
Has anyone asked and received an answer when to expect it?
I'm not trying to start, or is it continue a flame war. You might not
agree. You might feel that everything works well. But saying things
like "it's only been a year." or "Jaws has been in development
for ..." Big deal, that means nothing. You can also realize that VO
wasn't developed totally in the dark without even seeing another
screen reader.
Apple isn't going to get mad at you and take away your Mac if you
tell them you would like to see this or that feature or this or that
improved. The worst case you would be ignored, the best case you
would be listened to.
