My opinion on this as a Windows System Administrator on a 100,000
plus user network and one of my primary duties is security is.
Windows suffers from many problems not the least being market share.
It is just much more attractive for any malware developer to develop
for Windows. Hey, just like any software developer, they often choose
the platform with the highest market share.
Also Windows does and always had some really big security holes. Like
IIS, like Office. There have been some very bad design decisions in
the past by MS. Those are slowly being changed, but slowly.
Then third I strongly feel that the average Mac user is of a much
higher skill level than the average Windows user. I am not offending
anyone, we are talking the average.
I've always shuddered when an apple employee would say, "we never get
viruses". It's foolish to say never. There have been some exploits,
but they generally are laughable. But I wouldn't be shocked to wake
up some morning and hear of a real threat.
Do I run anti-virus software on my Macs, HELL NO.:-) Do I suggest it
to other Mac users, at this time, no. But maybe someday.

Abdul, I don't believe you are being deliberately malicious, but you

There is no hard empirical evidence supporting the notion that
Windows'
greater susceptibility to viruses and worms is exclusively due to low
quality development on the part of Microsoft.
