Safari and bookmarks

Folks, I've been trying to figure out how to go to my bookmarks menu  
or even just the list of bookmarks I have and once I locate that  
bookmark, how to activate it. I tried hitting enter on it, clicking,  
etc. and no luck. How does one activate a bookmark once they locate  
it. This seems mighty simple, but I've not figured out the trick.
