Ok, here are a few observations I'd like to share with the list.

Firstly if you have an ADSL connection as I do and you wish to fax from your Mac's modem (or any fax device for that matter), I suggest you install a dedicated fax line, either that or you'll have to disconnect your ADSL broad-band connection for a while whilst you have your Mac's fax modem connected to the phone line. I've found that running a connection from the phone side of my ADSL filter impairs the fax performance quite a bit thus fax transmission is allot slower and full o of errors.

For those of you who want to test your fax then look up your local Fax Test number in your country as it can give you technical data about fax transmission levels, line audio levels etc and you can see the difference in the quality of the fax transmission and reception for yourself.

finally, I was interested to find out that 33.6BPS fax modems are kicking about the place so you may wish to consider one of these if the Mac doesn't do 33.6 and you do allot of faxing, these devices aren't expensive, about $50.00.
