Firstly if you have an ADSL connection as I do and you wish to fax from your Mac's modem (or any fax device for that matter), I suggest you install a dedicated fax line, either that or you'll have to disconnect your ADSL broad-band connection for a while whilst you have your Mac's fax modem connected to the phone line. I've found that running a connection from the phone side of my ADSL filter impairs the fax performance quite a bit thus fax transmission is allot slower and full o of errors.

Here in France, we fax using the built-in modem on our old Sawtooth G4, using the same line as the ADSL modem/router and it works just fine. You must, of course, have a filter on every outlet.

For those of you who want to test your fax then look up your local Fax Test number in your country as it can give you technical data about fax transmission levels, line audio levels etc and you can see the difference in the quality of the fax transmission and reception for yourself.

That's interesting. We've never heard of this service before. However, my husband has seen the output from our fax transmissions and they're perfectly clear.
