RcDefault application can be downloaded from
http://www.rubicode.com/Software/RCDefaultApp/
Works good, I use it all the time.  That's how I got all my sound  
files away from Itunes.
And, Jane, You can use RcDefault app to add the .brf extension, so it  
will quite putting a .txt ending on them.
