I just downloaded and installed the update, and I took the suggestions
of a lot of you on the list here, and set VoiceOver to announce the
characters as I type. For me, it slowed my typing speed down somewhat,
but I can live with that. Overall, I can still use VoiceOver for a lot
of things that I could before. I haven't been convinced to abandon the
Mac; fact is, I plan to get an Intel Mac Mini next fall with my Alaska
