That is true, but I have found cases where that option apparently for
some reason isn't being honored. Why this is, is the question. It
should do exactly as you have stated, but I have found this mostly
with removable disks etc. I guess I should say its not always
consistant.

Of course, this will create lots and lots of windows you'll need to
close when you're done with them, but it will make sure you always
get the column mode when you enter a new folder, regardless of what
computer it's on.
