I am optimistic that Leopard and Vista represent an opportunity for
Apple to gain real marketshare in the home. If Leopard lets people
use their current Windows software, and Vista is a dramatically new UI
that require people to buy new hardware anyway, the psychological
barriers that prevent people from trying a Mini will disappear.

That's why the gas station down the street still runs a Windows
box, not a box with BSD or Linux on it.

More often than not, those point of sales (POS) systems, and touch
screen systems the waitresses and host use at restaurants, are DOS
based. These systems will not be switching to Windows any time soon.

Think those are still nervous about haveing tospend lots of time
training their $6 per hour employees for a new system that they
stick with Windows

They stick with DOS. Minimum wage employees are not being trained to
use Windows. They know how to use a single dedicated application that
is a glorified cash register.

When the ATMs on my work route that dispenses train tickets goes down,
they sometimes show an OS/2 Warp screen. I don't think hardly anyone
uses Windows in these hardened situations.
