Texshop and referencing

Hi folks,

Thanks Greg for this fantastic tool, but could you possibly help me with the 
referencing please? It seems tha I have t oissue a lot of commands according 
to the hlep file that I've read. Is this the case?

Also  waht is Laytex? I thought i would just be able to write as normal and 
then use the referencing tools.  Despite this little not understanding thing 
I have going on at the minute, I am very impressed with Texshop.
