*grin* I wasn't arguing with you. We both are looking at it from the same point of view. I was just belaboring the points you were making. Drag and Drop features are the major flaw as it stands now.

Equivalent is too strong a word, my apologies for that. If I had
written, "the closest thing we have in VO", would that have been
better?

Yeah, the mouse keys are far more reliable in these
situations.

I agree and understand completely. I cannot get
Control-Option-Shift-M to work in Safari either, but that was not the
misperception I was trying to clarify.

VO+Shift+M works for a lot of stuff, but not nearly all.

I think it may be only applicable to situations where one can select
items, not merely put the focus on them. In Finder, tab moves between
and selects items. In Safari, tab moves between links and gives each
focus in turn, but it doesn't select them.

This is a subtle distinction. But if one puts the focus on a link in
Safari and then go to the Edit menu, Copy is not available. In
Finder, an analgolous sequence will populate the Copy action in the
Edit menu. Does this make sense?

I do hope that mouse keys are made to work more fluidly with VO
in future. For now, we are indeed stuck with Control+Click using
mouse keys,

Agreed on all points. The fact that one can not move files using VO
in the Finder is a huge flaw. This ties a rather fundamental failure
on Apple's part in not providing a VO compatible keyboard equivalent
for Drag-and-Drop.
