I agree, I just find the only anoying thing with web surfing on the
Mac is the fact that between moving back and forth between pages the
damn sscreen reader doesn't remember its place on a page

Actually, in safari, using vo keys, right arrow does indeed go to
the right, and down arrow goes down. The difficulty is that right
arrow wraps back to the left side when it reaches the end of the
line. I personally like this behavior, and would prefer for it to
remain that way, but I can see where this could cause problems for
some, so perhaps it should be a toggle.
You can clearly see this behavior if you're in a table. A lot of
folks say vo doesn't work very well with tables, but I've not had
too much trouble with them once I discovered how the different
navigation options work. Right arrow will move to the next column
in the table, while down arrow will take me to the next row. I
think that's great, and just the way it should work.
And, it does give you a sound when it wraps to the next line, so I
generally use the right arrow when navigating pages, unless I know
what I'm looking for is under the item I'm on at the moment. Then
down arrow is much faster than going to all the other things on the
current line plus whatever is in front of the item I want.
It saaves quite a bit of time.
Also, don't forget, the arrows wrap back to the top (or bottom
depending on your direction) and I use this feature a lot too. For
example, on brainbench.com there's lots of stuff on the login page
I really don't care about, but a up arrow followed by a left arrow
puts me on the go button which is the one I need to log in so it's
down to just two keystrokes to get to that button instead of a
dozen or more navigating the rest of the page to get to it.
