Gabe, I am not sure or can't tell who wrote the piece on Finder on
the Wiki, but there is a change that needs to be made. In the piece
on Finder, it is stated that cmd+a etc. will take you directly to a
folder such as cmd+a for applications. This is not correct, the it is
shift+cmd+a for apps, shift+cmd+d for desktop, and shift+cmd+h for
home. I wasn't sure who to write to about that, but I wanted to point
that out.
tnx

For Immideate Release:
(Phoenix) The BlindTechs Network (located on the internet at
http://blindtechs.net ) launched a resource that comes in to the
Access Technology market at what seems to be a diffferent angle
from the norm. On sunday the Arizona based technology company went
live with a service called Macpedia. based on the wiki technology.
Macpedia is what promises to be the centralized location for all
things Macintosh (Apple Computer). Adding already to the vast
amount of services already offered such as a community internet
radio station, free email either through pop or webmail, technical
support message boards and now the Macpedia.
The Macpedia was started when it was realized by many on the
MacVisionaries discussion email list (http://macvisionaries.com)
an email list focused on Macintosh use by the blind. that there
wasn't a real centralized location for Mac usage by the blind and
visually impaired. while it has been discussed for a while with
no one really taking hold and making the talk and ideas in to a
reality. The BlindTechs Network stood up to the plate and rolled
it out.
When asked, what was the company's motivation on offering the wide
range of services at low or no costs. founder and owner of the
Network Gabe Vega responded with "I have come to realize that
there are a lot of individuals out there that can't aford to have
a constant internet connection. so that is why we provide web
based email. I know that a lot of people I've ran in to in life
always wanted to get on the radio air waves and show there
tallants, noww they can by utilizing and broadcasting on our
internet radio station. and obviously I also know first hand on
what it is like to not be able to aford the costly maintainence
agreements and technical support before I got in to this field.
that is why we offer totally free technical support either through
email, message boards, telephone and we even have a toll free
number for those who can't call long distence."
Gabe also spoke further about the Macpedia that was just launched
and explained that the information currently on the site is how to
switch from windows Access Technology to the Mac and its free
offerings that come built in to the operating system.
"The Macpedia is comprised of articles ranging from switching from
jaws or window eyes to VoiceOver the macintosh screenreader. I
feel that the time is coming for the ones who are looking for an
alternitive to the virus and spyware ridden Windows operating
system is better off investigating it now rather than waiting till
the Windows Vista disaster falls upon them and causes more
disabled individuals who already have a hard time keeping their
employment just make it that much more difficult."
