If I understand what you're getting at, you're buying a new Mac and want to
increase its standard memory? That's a pretty straightforward upgrade (Macs
use standard memory,by the way) so you should ask the folks at the store
where you're buying the Mac if they can do the memory upgrade for you before
they hand over the Mac. I would be really surprised if they couldn't do it.
If you do it yourself later, you can get memory for a Mac almost anywhere.
Go to RamSeeker (www.ramseeker.com) for listings of companies that sell RAM,
and their prices.

Hi all. All things being equal, I should be upgrading to IMac 20
inch 2.0 GHZ Processor model this coming weekend. Originally, I had
planned to buy the machine from the Apple Store. However, I have
discovered that there is a reseller in my area from where I could get
he machine more easily and quickly. However, I'm not sure if they do
the upgrade kits. So what I'd like to know, if anybody can tell me
is where you can upobtain the upgrade kits, as in memory and SATA
hard drive? I'm particulary thinking of memory actually. I think
it's likely that I could probably buy the DDR2/667 modules from most
anywhere. It's just a case of how eacy the memory is to upgrade.
I'm looking at taking it from 512 Gigabytes up to 1 or even 2GB. So
what I'm asking is does anyboy on list have experience with upgrading
memory and hard drive in an IMac? How easy is it to do, and are the
drive and DIMs accessible without major disassembly? Thanks.
