Flip4Mac vs Quicktime

This might be a rediculous question to some, but I was just curious  
what the difference is with Flip4Mac vs Quicktime. Seems what I read  
and tryed and yes on a limited basis, it seems that all Flip4Mac  
really does is allow you to play audio/video streams through Safari  
and I assume there is a way Quicktime could do this as well or am I  
missing something here. I gather that unless I missunderstood, the  
Flip4Mac adds the ability to play wmv files to Quicktime, is that it?
Just curious if I understand correctly.
