I've not fiddled with simple shell or iterm, but I have fiddled with  
bash itself.  I'm fairly certain it can be made to talk with a bit of  
work.  I'm working on inserting ns speech items into the bash  
source.  It looks like it will work, but I've not fiddled with it for  
a while, because I've had many other things to do, and classes are an  
ongoing thing, so time is extremely limited these days.  However, if  
I can get some time, I'll go back to this, and see what can be done  
with it.
