I was just wondering, since I plan to purchase a minimac for me while my wife uses the laptop macbook pro. I would hate to think I had to buy two copies of the same program, one for my minimac and one for my wife's macbook pro. It is good to know that for instance I can just purchase one FileMaker pro and it can be installed on both machines, since it is doubtful we would be running the same program at the same time any way on the same DSL service. In fact I could always be sure that I am off line if she is using the same program simultaneously. Would this solve the problem while at the same time allowing me to purchase a single apple program that could be installed on two different computers? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Access Curmudgeon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "General discussions on all topics relating to the use of Mac OS X by theblind" <[email protected]>

Is it the same for an Apple product?

Thank goodness, no!

To the best of my knowledge, there are no Apple products with copy
protection nor activation keys. OS X and iLife are licensed per
machine but for about 25% more one can get a "family pack" good for up
to five machines. I am not sure about their Pro apps being licensed
per person or per machine, but I would be surprised if there are many
individuals (who frequently use both a portable and desktop machine)
that routinely purchase two copies of all their software, Windows or
Mac. Microsoft quote allowing unquote you to do this, is them
spinning their acknowledgment of your rights to make it seem like they
are being generous.

Welcome from the dark side into the light.
